The Turkish food boom has hit most of the UK with lots of restaurants and kebab shops opening up. In Leicester alone we have over five and I have tried most of them. When my cousin told me about a Turkish restaurant in my hometown of Oadby; I had to check it out – plus I love Turkish food 🙂
The restaurant was small, cozy, nicely decorated and it was packed which is always a good sign that the food will be nice.
We ordered a selection of mezzes to start and some very meaty main courses, here are some photos of the food we ordered.
The starters were nice, I especially liked the halloumi and the sigara borek.
Mezze’s special sarma beyti for the main was served with rice, salad and yogurt and the kebab was wrapped in a tortilla. It tasted really nice, it is not a dish that I have had before but would definitely order it again.
The lamb yogurtlu kebab got a thumbs up from the mister. The lamb was soft and it was extra spicy just as he had requested.
The service was OK, it took the waitress a couple of attempts to take our order right and the main courses arrived at different times.
The atmosphere was great, it was packed and had a real buzz about it.
I really enjoyed my meal here, the food was very tasty and the restaurant and had a lovely atmosphere. I would like to have given this place a 5 out of 5 but felt a bit let down by the service. I would definitely recommend checking this place out – make sure you book a table as it gets very busy.
