Saturday night in Cardiff we headed over to Cardiff Bay for a nice meal out. I did a bit of research and I found an Indian restaurant called Moksh. They had great reviews on Trip adviser and food photo’s looked amazing – like the food you see on Master Chef!
We called ahead to book a table, they were fully booked but agreed to squeeze us in as we had travelled from the Midlands which was very nice of them.
That evening we all got dressed up and headed towards Moksh ready to eat some amazing food. When we arrived we were greeted with the words “We need the table back by 7.45” not the friendliest welcome but thought that may have been their attempt at crowd control.
I asked the waiter to confirm what was halal and he gave me a vague answer so I asked the manager who then confirmed what was halal on the menu. Again not a great start but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as the food all looked amazing!
The menu was impressive they had traditional Indian dishes with a modern twist.
The starters were nice they served pakora’s with a tamarind ice cream which tasted really nice – it was something different.
For my main I ordered called A.D.I.D.A.S (All day I dream about specification) it was a chicken breast on rice with some very strange-looking multicolored balls. It didn’t have much taste and was not what I was expecting, it sounded better then it tasted.
Everyone else commented that the food wasn’t great and the service was poor.
I was extremely disappointed with Moksh. The food was OK but and very expensive, I don’t mind paying for good quality food but this wasn’t worth what we paid. I travel around the country trying different food and writing reviews and I would put this place in my bottom 5. The service was wasn’t great either, I felt like the restaurant was doing us a favor by letting us dine there. I walked out the restaurant with an empty belly and wallet. This is somewhere I would never go again.
